Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Admissions Counselor with a proven track record guiding students into BS/MD programs. This role is ideal for a former admissions officer or seasoned college counselor who understands the unique demands and nuances of accelerated medical programs. The counselor will provide comprehensive, strategic support to students pursuing BS/MD and pre-med pathways, while also mentoring other team members and helping shape PathIvy’s approach in this specialized domain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute tailored admissions strategies for BS/MD applicants, including academic planning, research experiences, clinical exposure, and community leadership.
- Coach students on crafting compelling personal narratives that highlight intellectual curiosity, maturity, and commitment to medicine.
- Provide detailed, individualized guidance on essays, program-specific prompts, and supplemental writing that reflects the rigor and expectations of BS/MD programs.
- Conduct mock BS/MD and MMI-style interviews, providing targeted feedback to boost student confidence and articulation.
- Stay informed on trends, selection criteria, and changes in BS/MD admissions across top programs nationally.
- Collaborate with students on independent projects or research endeavors to strengthen their medical-focused applications.
- Mentor other counselors in BS/MD advising best practices.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with students and families throughout the admissions cycle.
- Lead student and parent webinars, especially around competitive admissions pathways and BS/MD strategy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from a highly selective U.S. college or university.
- Direct experience helping students gain admission to BS/MD or highly selective pre-med programs.
- Deep understanding of the BS/MD landscape, including admissions timelines, evaluation criteria, and program structures.
- Skilled in coaching high-achieving students through complex academic, extracurricular, and application planning.
- Exceptional writing and editing abilities with a strong attention to detail.
- Confident public speaker able to lead educational sessions and family consultations.
- Passionate about mentoring and supporting students grades 8–12.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the admissions office of a BS/MD or top-tier university.
- Master’s or professional degree in education, counseling, or related field.
- Track record of placing students into top BS/MD programs (e.g., Brown PLME, Rice/Baylor, Penn State/Sidney Kimmel, UMKC, Case Western, etc.).
- Familiarity with MMI (Multiple Mini Interview) and medical ethics interview preparation.
Performance Milestones & Success Roadmap
First 60 Days:
- Understand PathIvy’s BS/MD counseling approach and available resources.
- Begin working with a select group of students interested in pre-med and BS/MD tracks.
- Participate in BS/MD essay review and interview preparation sessions.
First 6 Months:
- Independently manage a caseload of BS/MD-track students.
- Lead webinars or parent sessions on BS/MD admissions.
- Contribute new tools or frameworks to strengthen PathIvy’s BS/MD advising program.
First 12 Months:
- Guide students to successful admission at highly selective BS/MD programs.
- Establish yourself as the internal point person for BS/MD expertise.
- Mentor junior counselors and help refine internal BS/MD counseling materials and practices.

- Prior college admissions and counseling experience with a strong track record of guiding students through the application process for both public and private institutions.
- Confident in leading marketing presentations, student workshops, and informational sessions.
- Passionate about mentoring and coaching students (grades 8-12), providing guidance through academic, extracurricular, and personal development challenges.
- Skilled in managing multiple student and parent relationships, ensuring personalized support and strategic planning for each student.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduated from or worked in the admissions office of a top 25 university as ranked by U.S. News & World Report.
