That has created a misconception: Do you need research to get into an Ivy League school?

That means students shouldn't pursue research solely because several classmates are doing it.

If ten students from the same school all participate in summer research programs, the activity label alone tells an admissions reader relatively little.

Differentiation comes from what happens within the experience.

One student may primarily observe.

The difference is depth and progression.

That is a useful reminder.
