One of the most prestigious writing/arts contests for school-aged creatives: allows entries in multiple writing categories (fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, journalism, etc.) and recognizes outstanding talent through Gold Keys, Silver Keys, and national awards.
- Great starting point for middle and high school students ready to showcase creative writing talents.
Bennington College Young Writers Awards
An international contest open to high school students (Grades 9–12) - you can submit poetry, fiction (short story or excerpt), or nonfiction essays (personal or academic).
- Winners and finalists may receive cash prizes; finalists who later enroll at Bennington can earn significant scholarship awards.
John Locke Institute Essay Competition
A global essay competition inviting students up to 18 years old to write argumentative / reflective essays on Philosophy, Politics, Economics, History, Psychology, Law, and Theology.
