One of the most prestigious writing/arts contests for school-aged creatives: allows entries in multiple writing categories (fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, journalism, etc.) and recognizes outstanding talent through Gold Keys, Silver Keys, and national awards.

YoungArts Competition

Bennington College Young Writers Awards

An international contest open to high school students (Grades 9–12) - you can submit poetry, fiction (short story or excerpt), or nonfiction essays (personal or academic). 

  • Winners and finalists may receive cash prizes; finalists who later enroll at Bennington can earn significant scholarship awards.

John Locke Institute Essay Competition

A global essay competition inviting students up to 18 years old to write argumentative / reflective essays on Philosophy, Politics, Economics, History, Psychology, Law, and Theology.
