Intro

Every year we work with students who have spent a decade on something long before anyone told them it might matter — the violin, the pool, the debate stage, the tanpura. What we've noticed is that the students who go furthest aren't the ones who collected the most activities. They're the ones who stayed with something long enough for it to get hard, and then stayed anyway.

That's why we're sponsoring two events this September from the Heritage School of Performing Arts, in association with Heritage Youth Club, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

AWAAZ — The Voice of Tomorrow

A national singing competition

AWAAZ brings young vocalists from across the country together in two categories — Hindustani Vocal and Bollywood Vocal — across three age groups: Junior (7–12), Youth (13–17), and Adult (18+).

The competition is chaired by Pandit Anol Chatterjee, one of India's most distinguished Hindustani classical vocalists and a foremost disciple of Padma Bhushan Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty, serving as Chief Judge.

Grand Finale: Friday, September 11, 2026 · 6:00 PM EST

Champions and runners-up in each age group and category receive cash prizes, and winners earn an exclusive spot in a live masterclass with Pandit Anol Chatterjee.

 Why We're Sponsoring

Serious training in Hindustani classical vocal music takes years of daily practice, an ear built slowly, and a relationship with a teacher that looks nothing like a class schedule. It doesn't fit neatly into an activities list, and it isn't supposed to.

We sponsor programs like this because they give students somewhere to be excellent that isn't about admissions at all. The students we work with are better applicants for having had that — but more to the point, they're better company.

If your family is thinking through how a long-standing artistic commitment fits into a college plan, we're glad to talk it through.
