Who are your mentors? - +
Our mentors are PhD candidates at top universities like Stanford, Harvard, MIT, Yale, Princeton, and University of Pennsylvania. They have experience teaching and will serve as 1:1 mentors for program participants.

What types of research do the mentors do? - +
Our mentors come from varied research backgrounds. These include Computer Science, Biomedical Sciences, Economics, Neuroscience, Public Health, Sociology, and more!

Will my student publish a paper? - +
The main goal is to write a research publishable paper. The premium program will push for publication in a journal. The standard program will result in a potentially publishable paper in which further work may be necessary for publication.

Is my student right for the program? - +
That’s a really good question! We encourage you to reach out to either your PathIvy Counselor or book a consultation with our team. Above all, we are looking for students who are motivated to learn, do the work, and commit to 5 to 7 hours per week and the program requirements. No previous experience necessary.

What types of papers will I write? - +
You can write one of two types of papers: Literature Review or Data Analysis. A literature review type paper will be suitable for students looking to develop a deeper understanding of a field and identifying knowledge gaps through gathering and analyzing existing research. Data analysis will require you to work with public data sets to uncover trends or insights using advanced statistical analysis techniques statistics or basic ML techniques.

How long are the programs? - +
We offer two program tiers. The standard program is a foundational research program designed to be 10 weeks. The premium program is a more advanced program which will require a 17 week commitment.

What are the differences between the Standard and Premium programs for PathIvy Research Academy? - +
There are several differences besides the length, some of which are below.
Students who are beginners in their research and are not focused on research for their major are encouraged to choose the standard program. The focus is conducting research with publication potential, knowing that further work may be required to strengthen it for publication.
Students who have previous research experience and are applying to competitive research universities are encouraged to choose premium. The main priority is publication in a research journal, requiring extensive time and support in conducting advanced research and refining the paper for submission.
